The Bhaktavatsalam Educational Trust was founded in the year 1958 by Thiru. O. V. Alagesan a freedom fighter in the Gandhiyan mould who later served with distinction in the Congress Party as well as the Govt. of India in various capacities. People of Tamil Nadu will always remember Thiru. O. V. Alagesan as one who was responsible for the ICF in Perambur, Madras Refineries Ltd, and the Madras Fertilisers Ltd., in Manali, Surgical Instrument Factory in Nandambakkam, Atomic Power Plant I Kalpakkam, the second mine cut in Neyveli, electrification of the Railway line between Tambaram and Villupuram and many more such projects, which continue to bring immense benefits to the State. Above all, as a Minister for Irrigation and Power, he was instrumental in getting the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra and Karnataka to agree to give 5 TMC feet each from their share of Krishna Water to the water starved Madras City as early as in 1960. Thiru. O. V. Alagesan founded the Trust to commemorate the 60th Birthday of Thiru.M.Bhakatavatasalam who was a man of great integrity and devotion in rendering service to the people. Chengalpattu, in Kanchipuram District, has a special place in Thiru. O.V. Alagesan’s heart. It was he who played a crucial role in getting the Govt.Medical College established in Chengalpattu, He also founded the Bhaktavatsalam Shastiapdapoorthi High School and The Brindavan Public School at Athur.

Emulating his illustrious father Sri.O.V.Alagesan , Shri O.V.A.Vamanan realizsed the need to establish a college that would cater the needs of the rural students. The result was The Pattammal Alagesan College of Arts & Science. An individual of high intellectual caliber and a graduate in Engineering he is ever, a source of inspiration for all. Since its inception at Athur the PAC has been a boon to the youth from the surrounding rural areas. Empathising with the students he has been constantly striving to improve teaching –learning and infrastructural facilities in all the institutions. With his keen perception and foresight he has continued to provide actionable insights towards betterment of the institutions he heads.
VISION
The Bhaktavatsalam Educational Trust was founded in the year 1958 to commemorate the 60th birthday of Thiru.M.Bhaktavatsalam former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The founder President of the Trust was Thiru. O.V.Alagesan former Union Railway and Petroleum Minister.
The Trust was founded to serve the noble cause of education and presently runs the following institutions:
1. Bhaktavatsalam Shastiapdapoorthi High School, Athur, Chengalpattu.
2. Bhaktavatsalam Polytechnic College, Kanchipuram.
3. Sarojini Varadappan Girl’s Hr.Sec.School, Poonamallee, Chennai
4. Brindavan Public School, Coonur, The Nilgiris.
5. Brindavan Public School, Kodaikanal.
6. Brindavan Public School, Athur, Chengalpattu.
7. Brindavan Public School, Chengalpattu.
8. Pattammal Alagesan College of Arts and Science, Athur, Chengalpattu.
9. Kanchi College of Education, Kanchipuram.
These Institutions are mostly located in rural areas with a view to make available quality education to the rural children. In tune with the vision of Thiru.O.V.Alagesan these institutions are devoted in ensuring the holistic development of students as individuals, who cherish high values in life and moral principles. The education imparted also includes sensitizing the students towards their soul responsibilities.
